Suja Juice Cleanse, I DID IT!

Alright y’all it’s inevitable…

Reality check: Bikini season is right around the corner. Are you feeling good about your health?

No? Lets take action today and do something about it.

Yes? Lets feel even better.

It’s not necessarily about looking good in a bikini, although it’s definitely a plus… it’s about being the best version of yourself and feeling good about your health.

The past few months I’ve been going to Orange Theory fitness a few times a week and I’ve noticed a change in my body tone. For those that don't know what this is, it's a 60 minute circuit training class, with heart monitors to keep track of your progress throughout the workout. I don’t need to lose weight per se, but I love the feeling of being strong and fit, and getting a good sweat in during the week is crucial for me to function.

However, unless I’m eating clean and being mindful of my diet, I feel like I’m wasting my time with the workouts. If I want to achieve that light, toned and healthy feeling… with child-like energy, I need to be eating the right foods.

Ever heard the quote "Abs are made in the kitchen"?

I mean if that were totally true I’d be whipping up a batch right now, but I do get what they’re saying. A healthy diet is crucial for building muscle and getting rid of that stubborn fat.

Sometimes when you’re in an unhealthy funk, it’s hard to kick start that healthy mentality again. Taco-Tuesday, Wine down Wednesday… EASTER CANDY… Fro-Yo Friday (that’s def not a thing but I made it one).

Point being, I was yolo-ing and treat-yo-selfing a little too often for the past couple weeks. I felt unhealthy with low energy, and it was time to get my sh*t together.

I needed to press the reset button, that button we should all be pressing from time to time.

This is when I came across the Suja Juice “fresh start” cleanse and decided to give it a try. They have a 1,3 and 5 day cleanse… I went with the 3.

(OK it was more like 2.5, I caved the last evening… damn you, you delicious English muffin.)

I’m not about those month-long juice cleanses. Mainly because I don’t have the will power (carbs, wine…love you) but also because I think it’s a little aggressive and unnecessary. *personal opinion*

Also my reasoning for doing this cleanse was to give my body a break from all the crap I was eating/drinking, and bring myself back to the healthy mindset + habits that I usually have. A few days should do the trick.

When deciding on a program, I chose the Suja Juice cleanse for a few reasons:

  • USDA ORGANIC
  • Non-GMO
  • Cold pressured
  • Gluten Free
  • Preservative free

They are also relatively inexpensive, and absolutely DELICIOUS.

Let me tell you, I’m miss picky-pants when it comes to my taste buds... and these are a treat for me.

A few of my personal faves:

Lemon Love: Water, lemon, steva and CAYENNE for that perfectly spicy kick. I drank at least 2 a day.

Glow: Always started my day off with this one. Contains apple, celery, cucumber, kale, collars, peppermint tea and spinach. An easy way to get your daily greens in.

Spiced Chia Protein: Contains a medley of spices (ginger, nutmeg), apple, almond milk, chia seeds, maple syrup and 10 grams of vegan protein. Filling, fueling and delicious… perfect post-workout.

Raspberry Probiotic water: crushed raspberry & 2 billion vegan probiotic CFU’s to aid in that flat, healthy tummy.

For those that want to join in on a Suja Juice cleanse, here are my suggestions:

  1. A couple days before starting the program, it’s best to start eliminating coffee, alcohol, dairy, wheat, etc… you don’t want it to be TOO big of a shock on your body, so cutting down will make the transition much smoother.
  1. For best results, they recommend that you stick to just juice, but noted that it’s OK to consume raw fruits & veggies if the struggle is real… and it was for me (I’m a baby) so I took advantage. There's no need to suffer! Feel free to add an avocado, baked sweet potato or clear broth when you’re really struggling.
  1. Start the day with hot water + lemon juice… and STAY HYDRATED throughout the process. Lots and lots of water.
  1. When you’re done with your cleanse, try not to go balls to the wall. Slowly ease into the more substantial foods by introducing smoothies, soups, salads, and veggies.

* You will get more instructions/direction on their site / when purchasing!

For those that don’t want to do the Suja Juice cleanse.

I understand. My willpower sucks sometimes too and I find that you have to be in the right mindset to do one. So if you’re not there right now, I’m still going to challenge you this week. The next few days I challenge you to eat as clean as possible… and replace your snacks with a couple Suja juices throughout the day. You’ll be amazed at how good you start to feel.

Cleanse or no cleanse, I will now ALWAYS have a few Suja’s in my fridge… no time for breakfast? Slightly hungry but don’t want to eat a whole meal? Grab one of these juices for a healthy and nutritious replacement.

Your body will thank you… and so will that itty bitty bikini in your drawer that is dying to be worn ;)

GOOD LUCK, KEEP ME UPDATED.

Healthy vibes sent your way,

Xx jen
